SHAMANISM
SOUND-VISION-ACTION

Primitive Equations cordially invite you to take part in our special event dedicated to phenomenon of Shamanism. Our program includes:
17.00 - Screening of films and footage from Soviet and Russian documentaries on Shamanic practices of Siberian people.
18.00 - Vegetarian meal at the restaurant of Zaal 100.
20.00 - Meeting with shaman Lyudmila Oyun from Tuva who will conduct a blessing ceremony
21.00 - Audio visual session with ultra rare mix of shamanic animation films and electro-acoustic performance of Primitive Equations
22.30 - Primitive Equations DJ set with exotic extravaganza from around the world.


Lyudmila Oyun is a hereditary shaman woman from Tuva, South Siberia, Russia. This small isolated country near the border with Mongolia is famous for its ancient living  tradition of shamanism, that survived repressions during the times of communism. Tuvan shamanism was studied thoroughly by numerous ethnologists and anthropologists, including Sevyan Vainstein. Lyudmila Oyun lives in Kyzyl, capital of Tuva. She is a practicing shaman and healer.

Primitive Equations (PEQ) is an ethnographic audio-visual art duo from Amsterdam. German Popov (OMFO) and Maxim Chapochnikov (Dr. Goldfinger) collect and work with anthropological and ethnographic materials such as image, sound and artefact and use them as a source for research performance. They frequently collaborate with the musicians of various diaspora. PEQ is a lab where the archetypes of modern music and popular culture get explored.
For this special evening
Primitive Equations will open up its treasure box of collected sound and visual materials, musical instruments and ecstatic techniques to undertake a transforming action.
